As part of our studies in International Business, my two classmates and I (Thea, Marie, and Roxane) went on an internship at CENTURY 21 Slovenia and Croatia for a period of 9 weeks.
This opportunity allowed us to gain a rich experience both professionally and personally. Moreover, by choosing CENTURY 21 Slovenia and Croatia, we chose to improve our English language skills, which is necessary for our future careers.
Slovenia and Croatia were totally unknown countries for the three of us, we had a lot of prejudices knowing that it was the first time we were going abroad alone.
Erasmus Interns at CENTURY 21 office in Ljubljana
The main CENTURY 21 office for both countries is in Ljubljana. We arrived in Ljubjana on May 1st and we immediately fell in love with this city. Ljubjana, besides being a beautiful and warm city, is the greenest city in Europe. We can see the mountains as far as the eye can see, the many parks including the big forest of Tivoli (bigger than a central park), have easy access to the city center which is incredible and accessible only by the pedestrian way and we are only 1h30 by car to the sea.
Thanks to our company, we had the chance to visit Ljubljana and its surroundings such as the lake of Bled, Maribor, the biggest caves in Europe, and all the towns along the coast (Izola, Piran, Copper, Portovoz). Each of these experiences was a great discovery for us. We love Ljubljana and Slovenia in general because it is a very safe country where we feel good.
We had the opportunity to meet many Slovenians and foreigners and we made many friends.
Erasmus Interns at CENTURY 21 office in Ljubljana
Moreover, we had the chance to go to Split in Croatia for 9 days. We visited office CENTURY 21 Habilius there and we explore Split and Croatia. We were able to participate in many boat excursions: visit of the blue lagoon with the visit of a wreck, visit of the blue cave as well as 5 islands. We enjoyed a lot the nice weather in Split, we could meet a lot of French people (like us too) which was also very nice. Split is a really beautiful city, and we are very grateful to our company to have been able to go there.
As far as our company is concerned, we were lucky to have Ljubica Novak as our tutor, who has always been there for us and with whom we get along very well. As soon as we arrived, Ljubica showed us the premises and introduced us to the team that was present that day. Each agent was able to welcome us in a very warm and friendly way.
We immediately felt very comfortable and we loved spending our days at the company.
Our tasks included: translating documents, making presentation videos, translating the website into French and Spanish, taking photos for CENTURY 21's prospecting, and inquiring about commission rates in many countries. We also had the opportunity to contact CENTURY 21 agencies in France to propose cooperation, we helped in the prospection of a Villa in Paris and we shot a video to attract investors and potential French buyers.
During our internship, we were very much followed by the team of CENTURY 21, indeed, we had the chance to work closely with different agents, including an agent who spoke French and helped us a lot in our prospection in France. We were able to meet director DUŠAN LAZARm CEO of CENTURY 21 Slovenia and CENTURY 21 Croatia on several occasions and even during a meeting. We were able to exchange with many agents and we really felt like we belonged.
We would like to take the opportunity of writing this article to thank all the team of CENTURY 21 and especially Ljubica who, in addition to having been the best tutor, is now forever in our hearts.
Thank you very much for having received us as an intern and for having taken your time for us.
We will remember CENTURY 21 as a great family.
